Glossary










Filtering: A software routine that changes the appearance of an image or part of an image by altering the shades and colours of the pixels in some manner.

Resolution: The degree of sharpness of a displayed or printed image. Resolution is defined as a matrix of "pixels" per inch.

Composites: a thing made up of several parts or elements.


Doctor: change the content or appearance of (a picture) in order to deceive.

Origins: the first stage of existence; beginning.

Contemporary: of the present time; modern.

Context: The conditions and circumstances that are related to an event.

Contextualise: To put into context.

Violate: To break or fail to comply with

Permission: The action of officially allowing someone to do a particular thing; consent or authorisation.

Commission: an order for someone to do something and receive payment.

Integrity: the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
